我が家に遊びに来る友人は、よしおに会えてもたま子にはなかなか会えない。
警戒心が強いたま子は、人の姿がチラッと見えると急いで逃げてゆく。
腰を低くし、低姿勢でそそくさと逃げるたま子の姿に、友人たちからは いつしかツチノコたま子と呼ばれるように……。
元々たま子は人懐っこくて知らない人にも積極的に近寄ってくるタイプだった。
それはまだ、たま子さんが若かりし日の出来事。
ある日、私が帰宅して玄関のドアを開けると、たま子が勢いよく外に飛び出し脱出！そして、当時住んでいた3階建ての集合住宅の階段から、1階分ダイブ！そのまま行方不明になってしまった……。
猫好きの友人に来てもらい、一緒に捜索すること2時間。
必死に探した結果、1階の踊り場付近の影にジッとしているたま子の姿を発見！捕獲！
おそらく、玄関から飛び出したはいいが、知らない世界に怯えていたのだろう。
大した怪我もなく無事で、ひと安心した。
その日を境に たま子は臆病な性格になり、知らない人が家に来るとすぐに逃げ、首輪の鈴を抑えて（いるように見える）ジッと物陰に隠れるようになりました。
一緒に探してくれた友人のことも、あの日の恐怖とリンクするのか避けるようになりました……。
こうして たま子はツチノコになりましたとさ。
